โ“ Frequently Asked Questions

Is SiteLens free?
Yes, completely free. No account, no subscription, no credit card. SiteLens is 100% free to use on the website and as a Chrome extension.
Does SiteLens collect my browsing data?
No. We do not collect, store or share any personal data. The URL you search is used only to fetch public website metadata in real-time and is immediately discarded. We have no user database, no analytics, no cookies.
Why does the extension need host permissions?
The extension needs permission to make API requests to sitelens.pages.dev and to CORS proxy services (allorigins.win, corsproxy.io) when you perform a search. It does NOT inject any scripts into web pages, does NOT run in the background, and does NOT read page content.
Why does the extension need the "tabs" permission?
The "tabs" permission (along with "activeTab") is used solely to read the URL of your currently active browser tab so we can auto-fill the search box with the current website domain. We never access your tab history, other open tabs, or any tab content.
The search shows no results. What should I try?
Try entering just the domain name (e.g. "example.com") without http/https. Some websites may not have similar sites indexed in the sitelike.org database. Also check your internet connection โ€” the search uses live proxy requests.
Why are results sorted by country?
SiteLens detects the country of the website you searched (from its domain TLD, e.g. .in = India, .co.uk = UK) and shows local competitors first. This way, if you search an Indian tiles company, you see Indian competitors first โ€” not US sites that aren't relevant.
Can I use SiteLens on Firefox or Edge?
Currently the extension is only packaged for Chrome / Chromium-based browsers (Edge, Brave, Opera). You can always use the website version at sitelens.pages.dev which works in any browser.
How do I uninstall the Chrome extension?
Go to chrome://extensions in your browser, find SiteLens, and click "Remove". All extension data (there is none stored) is automatically removed.
