1. Who We Are

SiteLens ("we", "us", "our") is a free web tool and Chrome extension that helps users discover websites similar to any URL they enter. The service is available at https://sitelens.pages.dev and as a Chrome browser extension.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

We are committed to collecting the absolute minimum. We do not collect:

• Your name, email address, phone number or any identity information
• Your IP address or precise location
• Browsing history or tab activity beyond the single URL you search
• Cookies for tracking, advertising or analytics
• Any account credentials or payment information
• Device fingerprints or unique identifiers

3. What Happens When You Use SiteLens

3a. Website (sitelens.pages.dev)

When you type a URL into the search box, the URL is sent to our server-side API (/api/similar) to fetch the website's publicly available metadata (title, description, keywords). This request is processed in real-time and not stored or logged by us.

Your browser also directly queries the public third-party service sitelike.org via a CORS proxy. This request goes directly from your browser and is subject to sitelike.org's own privacy policy.

3b. Chrome Extension

The extension reads the URL of your currently active browser tab solely to auto-fill the search field. This data is never transmitted anywhere — it stays in your browser. No tab history, no browsing data, and no background activity occurs.

When you click "Search", only the specific domain you searched is sent to our API. The request is not logged or stored.

5. Chrome Extension Permissions

The SiteLens Chrome extension requests the following permissions and here is exactly why:

• activeTab — Reads the URL of your current tab to auto-fill the search box. Only triggered when you open the extension popup. Never runs in background.
• tabs — Required alongside activeTab to access the current tab's URL. No history or other tabs are accessed.
• <all_urls> (host permission) — Allows the extension popup to make fetch requests to our API (sitelens.pages.dev) and to CORS proxies (allorigins.win, corsproxy.io). Required for the search functionality to work across all websites.

The extension does NOT use: background scripts, content scripts injected into pages, clipboard access, storage of any kind, notifications, or any other permissions.

6. Cookies & Local Storage

SiteLens does not set any cookies. We do not use localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB or any other persistent browser storage mechanism to store user data.

Cloudflare (our hosting provider) may set technical session cookies as part of its DDoS protection infrastructure. These are strictly functional and contain no personal data. See Cloudflare's Cookie Policy.

7. Data Retention

Since we collect no personal data, there is nothing to retain. Search queries processed through our API are handled in-memory and discarded immediately. We maintain no database of user searches, IPs, or activity logs.

8. Children's Privacy

SiteLens does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. The service contains no content directed at children and requires no personal information to use.

9. Your Rights

Since we do not collect or store personal data, there is technically nothing to access, correct, export or delete. However, if you have any concerns you may contact us at privacy@sitelens.pages.dev.

10. Changes to This Policy

If we ever update this privacy policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of SiteLens after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
